Rotary International Convention 2009
22/06/09Birmingham is hosting the Rotary International Convention from Saturday 20th
to Wednesday 24th June . The event is taking place at the NEC and up to 20,000 Rotarians are expected to visit Birmingham from around the world, many of which are staying in city centre hotels and taking the opportunity to shop in the city centre throughout their stay.
On Tuesday 23rd June the Rotarians have been invited by the organisers, to a special ‘night on the town’ including late night shopping at The Mailbox; East meets West concert at Symphony Hall, late night opening of the Council House, Museum and Art Gallery (including the new Matthew Boulton exhibition); a Birmingham Royal Ballet performance at The Hippodrome as well as a performance by the Treorchy Male Voice Choir at the Town Hall.
In addition, an International Food Fair will be staged on New Street from 20th June through to 28th June, where Rotarians can sample delights from across the world. The Fair will be open each day until 9pm. To accompany the Fair, there will be outdoor performances each day in Victoria Square and Chamberlain Square – where the city’s popular annual beach also makes a return.
