A Business Improvement District or BID is a precisely defined geographical area within which the businesses have voted to invest collectively in additional local projects and services to enhance their trading performance and environment.

BIDs are successfully operating in other countries, particularly in the USA. Across England and Wales, 43 BIDs are now working with businesses to improve their areas. Birmingham’s first BID, operating in the Broad Street area since July 2005, is making a real difference to businesses, customers and visitors.
